What is Cleanvoice AI?
Cleanvoice AI is an automated editor for podcasts, interviews, talking-head videos, and other spoken-word recordings. It can detect and remove filler words, stutters, long silences, breaths, mouth sounds, background noise, echo, and related distractions. Studio Sound enhances weak recordings, podcast mixing balances tracks, and transcription, summaries, show notes, and social content extend the workflow beyond audio cleanup.
The product is designed to reduce repetitive editing, not to make editorial judgment disappear. A breath can be noise in one sentence and emotion in another. A pause can be dead air or an essential dramatic beat. The best evaluation uses the team's real speakers, microphones, languages, accents, interruptions, remote-call artifacts, music beds, and delivery formats.
Editing quality and review workflow
Start by processing duplicate copies of several representative episodes. Test each feature independently before enabling everything at once. Compare raw and edited audio at every cut, especially around names, numbers, laughter, false starts that contain corrections, overlapping speakers, quiet guests, non-native speech, and tonal transitions. Aggressive silence removal can make conversation unnatural; filler removal can change meaning; denoise can create metallic artifacts.
Keep the raw multitrack master outside Cleanvoice. Export the edit timeline when available, then perform a final pass in a digital audio workstation or video editor. Check sync, sample rate, loudness, peaks, phase, breaths, room tone, intro and outro, music ducking, transcript spelling, speaker labels, links, and summary claims. A generated show note can confidently misstate what a guest said.
Batch upload can apply one template to several separate podcasts, while multitrack processing currently carries no extra charge. Those features improve throughput but also scale a bad preset. Version templates, test changes on one file, and monitor false-removal rates before applying a new setting to a back catalog.
Free trial, credits, and plans
New accounts receive 30 minutes of free credits without a payment card and can use the full feature set. Guest Upload allows a partial preview before sign-up, although long uploads may be trimmed and full results require an account. Free credits do not expire until consumed.
Pay-as-you-go packages are $11 for five hours, $20 for ten hours, and $45 for thirty hours. Purchased credits are valid for two years. Monthly subscriptions list ten hours for $11, thirty hours for $30, one hundred hours for $90, and two hundred hours for $175. Unused subscription hours roll over up to three times the monthly plan limit while the subscription remains active. Standard prices exclude applicable VAT.
Credits are based on source duration, with a one-minute minimum and upward rounding. A 10-minute 20-second file uses 11 minutes. Enabling more editing features does not increase the charge, and multitrack files currently are not charged per track, although documentation warns that may change. Calculate cost using all submitted versions and reprocessing, not only published runtime.
API and production operations
Cleanvoice offers REST APIs plus Python and JavaScript SDKs for upload, processing, polling, and download. The current developer page lists the same hourly bundles and a custom tier for more than 200 hours, with rates depending on scale and feature mix. It advertises a 99.5% SLA, DPA review, custom endpoints, priority support, and optional zero retention for enterprise-style workloads.
Production integrations need idempotency, secure key storage, timeouts, retry rules, job-state reconciliation, webhook verification, checksum validation, download deadlines, credit alerts, and failure handling. Do not automatically replace the raw master. Save the processed file to a quarantine location, run media validation, and require approval before publication. Record job ID, source, settings, duration charged, output checksum, reviewer, and deletion result.
Privacy, retention, and contract gaps
Cleanvoice says original and edited files are stored for seven days and then permanently deleted. Its API documents an earlier DELETE operation, and the developer page says files can be removed when processing finishes under an optional zero-retention setup. This is useful, but “files” may not automatically cover transcripts, summaries, job metadata, billing records, diagnostic logs, backups, or support attachments. Confirm each data class and deletion evidence.
The public Terms and Conditions were last updated in June 2022. They say the general site is not tailored to HIPAA, FISMA, or GLBA requirements. The terms also contain a broad, perpetual license for user material categorized as Contributions, including image and voice, while saying users retain ownership. It is not clear from public language whether private processing uploads are governed by that contribution clause or a narrower service arrangement.
The developer page advertises custom model development but does not establish a universal no-training promise for ordinary uploads. Before uploading unreleased interviews, customer calls, health discussions, legal privilege, children's voices, biometric material, or confidential meetings, obtain written answers on training, human review, subprocessors, location, encryption, access logs, backups, deletion, incidents, DPA terms, and the agreement that overrides the public terms.
Verdict
Cleanvoice AI has an unusually broad cleanup toolkit and transparent duration-based pricing. It is attractive for teams that spend hours on repetitive podcast edits and for developers who want several audio-processing steps behind one API.
Its value depends on human quality control and data governance. Automatic removal can alter pacing or meaning, and the older public terms leave important questions for confidential audio. Use the free 30 minutes on difficult real samples, preserve masters, track every charged version, listen to the final export end to end, delete jobs early, and obtain a signed data position before regulated or sensitive production use.
