What Framer AI is
Framer is a visual website design, CMS, collaboration, hosting, and publishing platform. Its AI features now include Agents that can build a website from a description, edit pages and components, create CMS collections and content, translate sites, and work with external coding agents through supported integrations.
The product is optimized for marketing sites, portfolios, landing pages, editorial experiences, and design-led web production. It can produce interactive React-based pages, but it is not a general full-stack application backend. Define the project as a site or an application before comparing Framer with Lovable or Bubble AI.
Building with Framer Agents
An effective prompt describes audience, purpose, information architecture, required pages, conversion action, source content, brand tokens, accessibility constraints, and examples of acceptable visual direction. Generate a small structure first, then review components and styles before expanding.

AI translation still requires native review. Verify navigation, slugs, hreflang behavior, canonical URLs, images, legal copy, forms, dates, currencies, and search keywords for every locale. Adding or renaming locale paths can require updates to rewrites and headers.
SEO, AEO, and performance
Framer pre-renders published pages to HTML and documents automatic title and description delivery, canonical URLs, Open Graph and Twitter metadata, sitemap.xml, robots.txt, and support for JSON-LD inserted by the site owner. It also serves optimized pages as Markdown to compatible AI agents and can expose llms.txt when configured.
These features make technical discovery easier; they do not create useful content or correct schema automatically. Confirm one search intent per page, semantic heading order, descriptive links, unique metadata, image alt text, index rules, structured data consistency, redirects, and internal links.
Managed hosting adds server rendering, image resizing, font subsetting, caching, and global delivery. Measure the actual site with representative content and third-party scripts. Fonts, analytics, chat widgets, consent tools, video, and oversized media can still harm Core Web Vitals.

Framer pricing currently lists Free, Basic, Pro, and Enterprise. Free provides a Framer domain, trial AI credits, and limited publishing. Basic is listed at $10 per site per month on annual billing, with a custom domain, two CMS collections, 1,000 CMS items, 50 GB bandwidth, built-in SEO, and optional localization. AI Agents consume workspace credits: current pricing lists monthly credits for Basic and higher credits for Pro, with additional credits available. Editor and content-editor seats are billed separately. Each locale is a paid add-on on self-serve plans, and advanced hosting, experimentation, CMS, page, bandwidth, and event capacity can add cost.
Model a complete site, not the headline plan. Count sites, editors, content editors, locales, AI generation, bandwidth, CMS growth, experiments, analytics events, and custom hosting requirements. Set owners for unused seats and retired staging projects.
Hosting lock-in and export
Framer's official help is explicit: published sites cannot be exported as standalone HTML or a static bundle for self-hosting. The rendering, image optimization, font processing, caching, and other services depend on Framer infrastructure.
This managed approach can be a benefit when the team does not want to operate hosting. It is also platform lock-in. Preserve original media, copy, domain access, CMS exports where available, structured content schemas, design tokens, and third-party configuration. Estimate how a rebuild would work before selecting Framer for a long-lived critical property.
AI training, privacy, and security
Framer's AI notice effective June 16, 2026 says third-party model providers do not have the right to train on customer inputs and outputs. It also grants Framer a limited license to use deidentified inputs and outputs from all non-Enterprise customers to train Framer AI models. Enterprise customer inputs and outputs are excluded.
That distinction should be approved before sensitive prompts or unpublished content are entered. Review the privacy policy, DPA, subprocessors, deletion, support access, and workspace AI controls. Enterprise can disable AI for a workspace according to current help materials.
Framer's security page lists ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type I and Type II, GDPR and CCPA commitments, encryption at rest and in transit, access control, environment separation, and security operations. The public page also says services are hosted in AWS facilities in the United States, which can matter for residency requirements.
