What Webflow AI is

Webflow is a visual web development, CMS, hosting, optimization, and marketing platform. Webflow AI adds a site builder, section and copy generation, CMS assistance, contextual guidance, code components, and agentic workflows to the existing visual system.

It is designed for production marketing sites rather than only one-shot page generation. Teams can create responsive layouts, reusable components, structured collections, interactions, forms, search, localization, experiments, and publishing workflows according to plan. That breadth also makes pricing and portability more complex than a simple AI landing-page service.

AI site generation and continued editing

Webflow's AI site builder generates a site foundation from a description, after which authors continue in Webflow to customize sections, content, and CMS structures. Give the system a content model and design direction rather than a vague industry label. Define audiences, jobs, pages, collections, conversion actions, brand tokens, required components, and non-goals.

Review generated output for semantic structure, responsive behavior, keyboard access, focus states, contrast, labels, motion preferences, and content accuracy. AI-generated code components require additional care. Webflow's current help warns that they do not integrate with CMS through the Content Delivery API, are not visually editable internally, do not interoperate with DevLink components, are stripped from code export, and cannot safely hold API secrets.

Never paste a token or key into an AI prompt. If that happens, rotate it immediately. Treat code components like application code: inspect dependencies, data flows, external requests, error behavior, privacy, performance, and accessibility.

CMS and marketing operations

Webflow CMS organizes repeated content into Collections with a single schema and template. It suits blogs, resources, team directories, case studies, products, events, and other structured marketing content. CSV import and export can support migration and bulk updates, while APIs support connected workflows according to plan.

Design the schema before importing large amounts of content. Use stable slugs, intentional references, distinct locale fields, asset ownership, and review states. Imported images do not always receive the same responsive variants as images uploaded through the interface, so optimize them before import.

CMS, forms, search, accounts, ecommerce, Localize, analytics, and integrations process different kinds of visitor data. Map retention, consent, access, deletion, and export for each system. A marketing platform can become a high-value customer-data surface even when it is not the company's primary application.

SEO, accessibility, and performance

Webflow gives teams control over titles, descriptions, canonical URLs, Open Graph fields, headings, alt text, redirects, robots behavior, sitemaps, custom code, and structured data. AI can accelerate suggestions, but visible content and metadata must remain consistent.

Build one clear search intent per page, remove duplicated AI copy, connect related pages, and validate schema against the rendered result. Keep staging and duplicate domains out of the index. Preserve redirects during redesigns and verify localized canonical and hreflang behavior.

Managed hosting and responsive-image features can support performance, but third-party scripts, animations, fonts, video, tag managers, consent platforms, and oversized CMS assets still affect Core Web Vitals. Set budgets for LCP media, JavaScript, fonts, layout shifts, and interaction latency, then test actual templates on mobile hardware.

2026 pricing structure

Webflow pricing currently lists a Free Starter site plan with a webflow.io domain, limited CMS, two static pages, 1 GB bandwidth, 50 form submissions, Webflow AI, MCP, and Cloud app hosting access. Basic is listed at $15 per site per month billed annually, for a custom domain, 300 static pages, 10 GB bandwidth, unlimited form submissions, and a site without CMS needs. Premium starts at $25 per site per month billed annually and adds CMS, code components, search, and file uploads with selectable capacity.

Team is a much larger annual platform tier with Localize, AEO agents, publishing workflows, activity, APIs, governance, and support. Enterprise is custom. AI credits are included at workspace level and reset according to plan, with additional credits available. Features and pricing transitioned in 2026, so existing customers and agency workspaces may have different effective dates or legacy arrangements.

Budget the site plan, Workspace, creators, content editors, AI credits, CMS and bandwidth capacity, localization, experiments, ecommerce, analytics, applications, and add-ons. A plan comparison must specify both the site and organization context.

Code export is partial portability

Paid Workspace plans can export HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and assets for independent hosting without Webflow attribution. This is valuable for a static marketing site, but it is not a complete export of the Webflow platform.

Official code-export documentation says CMS content and functionality, ecommerce, user accounts, localized content, password protection, forms, file upload, reCAPTCHA, site search, and code components are omitted or nonfunctional. CMS and other records can be exported separately as CSV, but the team must rebuild the runtime.

Run an exit test before relying on export. Host the ZIP elsewhere and inventory every broken function. Save media independently because exported CMS URLs can still point to Webflow-hosted assets that disappear if the original site is deleted.

AI data handling and governance

Webflow's current AI approach says customer data is not used to train generative models and third-party providers are contractually prohibited from training on it. The AI terms say inputs and outputs are used to provide the service and are not used to train, improve, or fine-tune Webflow AI or underlying models without prior consent.

Workspace administrators can govern AI access, and enterprise tiers add role controls and audit capabilities. Review which users can create components, publish, change domains, access form submissions, add custom code, connect agents, or grant third-party integrations.

Webflow reports SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, 27017, and 27018 certifications in its current AI materials. The customer still owns site configuration, lawful content, end-user privacy, access control, custom scripts, agents, and generated output.

Who should choose Webflow AI?

Webflow AI is a strong choice for teams that want AI acceleration inside a capable visual marketing platform rather than a disposable first draft. It supports deeper design and structured content work than a simple small-business generator while keeping hosting and publishing integrated.

Choose Framer AI for a particularly design-led canvas and simpler managed site workflow. Choose Durable for a local-business bundle with CRM, bookings, and lead agents. Choose Lovable when a conventional application codebase and GitHub path are central. The AI presentation and website builders category provides a shared production and portability checklist.

  • Supports detailed responsive design, reusable systems, metadata, structured content, redirects, and integrations
  • Paid Workspace code export can provide static HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and assets without attribution

Limitations

  • Code export omits CMS functionality, ecommerce, user accounts, localization, forms, search, passwords, and AI code components
  • Site plans, Workspace access, seats, AI credits, CMS capacity, bandwidth, localization, and platform tiers create complex pricing
  • Generated code components have security, interoperability, CMS, cloning, and export restrictions

Best for

  • Marketing and web teams that need design control, structured content, and managed hosting
  • Agencies delivering sophisticated responsive sites with repeatable systems
  • Organizations prepared to govern publishing, AI, content, accessibility, performance, and export dependencies

Not ideal for

  • Buyers expecting a complete dynamic site to remain functional after static code export
  • Teams seeking the simplest site builder for a one-page local business presence
  • Full-stack product applications that require a general backend beyond Webflow's marketing platform

Frequently asked questions

Is Webflow AI free?

Webflow's Starter site plan is free with a Webflow subdomain, limited pages, bandwidth, forms, CMS, and access to AI features. Custom domains and larger production needs require paid site plans, while workspace, AI-credit, seat, and add-on costs can be separate.

Can Webflow export website code?

Paid Workspace plans can export static HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and assets. The export does not include CMS or ecommerce functionality, user accounts, localization, forms, search, password protection, or AI code components, so a dynamic site needs replacement services.

Does Webflow train AI models on customer content?

Webflow's current AI approach and AI terms say customer inputs and outputs are used to provide AI features and are not used by Webflow or its providers to train or improve generative models without prior customer consent.
