What is Plus AI?
Plus AI is an add-on that creates and revises presentations inside Google Slides and Microsoft PowerPoint. It can generate a deck from a prompt, turn a document into slides, add one slide, remix content into a different layout, rewrite or translate text, and use templates or shared brand settings. Because the output remains in a familiar presentation application, users can continue normal collaboration, comments, version history, manual layout, and export.
This native workflow is the main distinction from tools that produce a deck in their own web editor. It reduces format handoff, but it does not guarantee perfect compatibility. Official troubleshooting notes recommend the PowerPoint desktop app because web PowerPoint can format generated content differently, while Google Slides cannot use uploaded custom fonts outside its supported font set.
Generation and editing workflow
Good results begin with source structure. A useful prompt defines audience, decision, length, narrative, required evidence, tone, and visual constraints. File-to-presentation is designed to synthesize a document, not preserve every sentence or reformat an existing deck exactly. For an existing slide, Remix offers more control than uploading the whole presentation.
The current guide describes a limit of 30 generated slides per presentation. Longer work can be split into chapters, but the user must remove repeated title or agenda slides and reconcile transitions. Prompt-based formatting instructions also have limits; custom branding and templates are the supported route for fonts, colors, and logos. Complex corporate layouts may require enterprise template work.
Treat the draft as an editable argument, not finished design. Verify every number, quote, customer name, source, and chart. Check whether a visual actually supports the claim, whether image rights permit use, and whether the narrative answers the intended decision. Review typography, contrast, reading order, speaker notes, alt text, localization overflow, and the final projected or exported size.
Plans, trial, and team billing
As checked on August 9, 2026, Plus required a paid plan after a seven-day trial. The trial required a credit card and automatically charged at its end unless canceled. Basic unlocked unlimited AI generation and editing; Pro added features including longer prompts and file conversion; Team added shared colors, fonts, logo, presets, and instructions; enterprise options addressed more advanced templates and controls.
Plans are priced per user. Official documentation says the entire organization moves to the paid plan rather than upgrading selected individuals. Inviting a member can create a prorated charge, and any member may be able to invite others under the documented team permissions. Make invitation and billing authority an administrative decision. Only the organization owner manages the plan, and uninstalling the Google or Microsoft add-on does not cancel the subscription. Paid subscription payments are described as non-refundable.
Data, permissions, and AI terms
To work in Slides or PowerPoint, the add-on needs access appropriate to files the user can edit. The privacy policy states that Google Workspace API data is not used to develop, improve, or train generalized AI or ML models and cites Google's Limited Use requirements. It also describes encryption in transit and storage and says retention is based on operational, regulatory, or contractual need, with a retention policy available on request.
That statement should not be simplified to “nothing leaves the document.” Plus can receive content, and AI features may use third-party AI providers to produce results. The terms define inputs and results as customer data, warn that results may not be unique, and provide them without accuracy or reliability guarantees. Enterprise buyers should confirm subprocessors, model providers, data region, retention, deletion, access logs, incident terms, and whether uploaded files or generated history remain after a source deck is deleted.
Use least-privilege installation, restrict sensitive deck categories, and avoid placing unreleased financials, personal data, legal advice, or confidential customer material into prompts until the contractual data path is approved.
Verdict
Plus AI is best understood as a native first-draft and slide-revision assistant. It is particularly useful when the deliverable must stay editable in Google Slides or PowerPoint and when a team wants shared visual settings. Its value depends on source quality and human finishing. Pilot it with real decks, measure time to an approved presentation rather than time to first generation, review organization billing permissions, and put factual, visual, accessibility, and data checks before external sharing.
