What ResearchRabbit is
ResearchRabbit is a literature-discovery and organization tool. A researcher adds seed papers, explores related publications and authors, saves results into collections, and collaborates by sharing those collections. RR+ adds controls for larger projects and research-integrity signals.
It is best understood as a discovery map, not an automatic literature review. The product helps answer “What is connected to this paper?” It does not by itself establish that every connected work is relevant, rigorous, current, or eligible for a formal review.
Start with deliberate seed papers
Seed quality shapes the neighborhood. Choose papers that represent different terminology, dates, methods, disciplines, geographies, languages, and positions on the question. Starting from only a famous review or one research group can reproduce its citation and publication bias.
Document why each seed was chosen. Compare ResearchRabbit results with a conventional keyword and subject-heading search. Look for recent work that has not accumulated citations, negative results, non-English papers, preprints, corrections, and retractions.
The Free plan currently allows up to 50 seed articles, while RR+ raises the limit to 300 for larger reviews. More seeds can improve breadth but also produce an unmanageable graph. Use separate collections for included papers, background reading, methods, unresolved candidates, and excluded records.
Collections, collaboration, and projects
ResearchRabbit provides unlimited library and collections on Free, plus collection sharing. This can support a research team that wants one discovery workspace without immediately buying seats. Agree on naming, tags, notes, duplicates, inclusion states, and who can add or remove material.
RR+ adds multiple projects and advanced search controls. Projects can separate unrelated questions and reduce contamination between seed sets. Before relying on collaboration, test invitations, access removal, collection ownership, exports, account deletion, and what happens when the owner leaves or downgrades.
Notes and collection decisions are part of the research record. Export or back them up in a format the team can preserve. A literature process should not become irreproducible because a subscription, account, or interface changes.
Signals and research integrity
Current RR+ pricing lists Signals alerts intended to help protect research integrity. Treat an alert as a prompt to investigate, not a final judgment. Open the source notice, correction, retraction, or concern and identify which version and claim it affects.
Absence of an alert does not establish reliability. Metadata feeds can be delayed or incomplete, and quality problems may never generate a formal notice. Continue checking publisher pages, Crossref or other approved sources, dates, versions, and domain-specific appraisal criteria.
Coverage and systematic-review limits
ResearchRabbit currently describes search across more than 310 million articles. An index-size claim does not reveal full coverage for a particular field, conference, language, thesis repository, clinical-trial register, or date range. Test a benchmark set.
A formal systematic review usually needs reproducible database queries, complete dates, deduplication, dual screening, exclusion reasons, extraction, bias assessment, and a documented flow. ResearchRabbit can complement that process through citation discovery; it should not silently replace the required databases or protocol.
Save seed sets, search dates, collections, candidate decisions, exports, and the separate queries used elsewhere. When a citation-map result changes the included evidence, record that discovery path.

Confirm whether the displayed amount is a monthly charge or an effective monthly rate on an annual commitment. Save the checkout, tax, discount, renewal, refund, and cancellation terms. Price the human screening and reading work as well as the subscription.
Privacy and data responsibility
ResearchRabbit's official November 2025 data-responsibility summary says user work belongs to the user, articles and notes are not sold or exposed to third parties, and those materials are not used to train AI models. It says data is used to provide the service, communicate, and produce analytics.
The formal privacy policy and DPA control the details. The DPA identifies Litmap Limited as processor when applicable and the customer as controller. Review subprocessors, international transfers, analytics, cookies, retention, deletion, support access, collaboration, and institutional terms.
An article citation may be public while a collection name, note, search path, or unpublished hypothesis is sensitive. Use public projects during evaluation and restrict shared collection access.
