What SciSpace is

SciSpace is a broad academic research platform. Its current product family includes a research Agent, literature review, Chat with PDF, extraction, writing, citation, paraphrasing, detection, topic exploration, and other utilities.

The breadth is useful when one researcher wants to move from discovery to reading and drafting without switching products. It also means “SciSpace output” is not one thing. A result may come from retrieval, an uploaded file, an extraction process, public metadata, an Agent plan, or a writing feature. Record the path.

Research Agent and literature workflow

Use the Agent with a bounded task: identify studies for a defined population, build a comparison table from named papers, or extract specific fields with source support. Avoid open prompts such as “write my literature review” until the team has defined the question, coverage, inclusion criteria, and evidence standard.

Test recall using papers already known to the field. Search synonyms, older terminology, non-English work, preprints, negative findings, corrections, and retractions. A polished review can be incomplete if the retrieval set is biased.

When an Agent generates multiple steps, preserve the query, selected sources, task settings, credit receipt, output, and human corrections. If a task pauses when credits run out, confirm which intermediate results are retained and whether restarting duplicates cost or evidence.

Chat with PDF and extraction

SciSpace can explain papers, answer questions, and extract information from documents. Verify every material answer against a page or passage. Test tables, equations, figures, footnotes, appendices, scanned text, multi-column layouts, and conflicting statements.

An extraction table can look consistent while silently mixing units, time points, treatment arms, or abstract and full-text evidence. Define a schema, include “not reported” as distinct from “not found,” sample excluded rows, and double-review important fields.

Uploaded or licensed access does not eliminate copyright and sharing restrictions. Preserve citations and do not redistribute full text merely because the platform can analyze it.

Writing and academic integrity

SciSpace includes writing, paraphrasing, citation, and related tools. Use them to structure, clarify, or challenge a draft—not to fabricate authorship, sources, data, or conclusions. Open every cited source and confirm it supports the sentence.

Institutions, journals, courses, funders, and publishers have different disclosure rules for generative AI. Record which sections used AI, what sources were supplied, which output was accepted, and who verified it. An AI detector score is not reliable proof of authorship or misconduct and should not be used alone for disciplinary decisions.

Current Agent pricing and credits

SciSpace's Agent credit guide currently lists Basic at $0 with 100 monthly credits. Premium includes 1,200 credits and is listed at $12 per month on annual billing or $20 monthly. Advanced includes 10,000 credits at $70 annually effective or $90 monthly. Max includes 40,000 credits at $160 annually effective or $200 monthly.

Monthly credits expire at the end of the cycle. A long task can pause when the balance is exhausted. Team members on the same plan tier share a credit wallet; users on different tiers use separate wallets. Standalone tools outside the Agent may not consume Agent credits.

SciSpace also has separate Editor pricing and older product pages. Do not combine an Editor plan with Agent benefits unless checkout confirms both. Model task complexity, retries, extraction volume, documents, team concurrency, add-on credits, and the human time required to verify output.

Privacy and uploaded files

SciSpace's official March 2025 help page states that PDFs uploaded to a user's Library are private, accessible only to the user, and not shared or used to train AI models. It says the statement applies to Free and paid users.

That is useful evidence about uploaded PDFs, not a complete description of every prompt, public search, writing feature, analytics event, integration, or organization deployment. Review the full privacy policy, terms, model providers, subprocessors, storage region, retention, deletion, support access, team sharing, and any DPA.

Use public papers or synthetic documents during evaluation. Check that deleting a file also removes derived chats, extraction tables, embeddings, exports, and shared links under the applicable process.
