What SlidesAI is
SlidesAI is an AI presentation maker that runs in four contexts: its own web platform, a Google Slides add-on, a Microsoft PowerPoint add-in, and a custom GPT for ChatGPT. It can turn a prompt, topic, notes, text, PDF, or document into an outline and then an editable deck.
The native-editor approach is its clearest advantage. Teams do not have to generate a deck in one proprietary canvas and then discover during export that the file behaves differently. They can begin or continue the workflow in Google Slides or PowerPoint, using the host product's normal editing and collaboration tools.
From source material to an outline
A useful SlidesAI workflow starts with evidence rather than a broad topic. Provide the audience, purpose, required decision, source document, desired length, tone, and must-include facts. SlidesAI first proposes a slide-by-slide outline that can be edited, reordered, expanded, or regenerated before visual creation.
That checkpoint should not be skipped. AI can omit a critical caveat, repeat an idea across slides, or turn an uncertain source into a definitive claim. Confirm the title of every slide and the evidence that supports it. A deck is easier to correct at outline stage than after images, charts, and animations have been added.
SlidesAI documents support for more than 100 languages. This can accelerate localized first drafts, but translation needs the same review as source-language content. Protect product names, legal terms, data units, speaker tone, and region-specific examples. A translated slide that fits visually can still be misleading.
Editing in Google Slides and PowerPoint
The Google Slides add-on is installed from Google Workspace Marketplace and launched from the Extensions menu. The PowerPoint add-in provides a corresponding workflow in Microsoft 365. In both cases, generated elements can be edited using the familiar host interface.
This matters for collaboration and handoff. Existing comments, master layouts, company storage, version history, accessibility checkers, and review processes remain available according to the host environment. It also means SlidesAI is not responsible for every part of the collaboration or security path: Google or Microsoft account controls and file-sharing settings still apply.
Test a company template before committing. Confirm whether generated slides respect the intended masters, fonts, spacing, image treatment, charts, notes, and accessibility order. AI generation can create structurally editable content without producing a deck that is immediately brand-compliant.
Web platform, ChatGPT, and export
SlidesAI's web platform can create and edit presentations independently, then export to PPTX, Google Slides, or PDF. Its custom GPT provides another prompt surface for users already working in ChatGPT. Moving between surfaces can be convenient, but it expands the data route.
Map what is sent to SlidesAI, Google or Microsoft, ChatGPT, image providers, and any connected storage. A source document should not be uploaded simply because a familiar host editor is open. The add-on has its own permissions and service terms in addition to the host platform.
The web editor's recent documentation includes editable charts, formatted mathematics, code blocks, image cropping, and AI-assisted refinement. Verify which features survive export to the chosen destination and whether the intended recipient can edit them without the SlidesAI service.
Pricing, presentations, characters, and credits
SlidesAI pricing currently lists a Basic free plan with 12 presentations per year, 2,500 input characters per presentation, and 120 annual AI credits. Pro is displayed at an effective $10 per month when billed $120 annually, with 120 presentations per year, 6,000 input characters, 600 credits, and document upload. Premium is displayed at $20.83 per month billed $250 annually, with unlimited presentations, 12,000 input characters, 1,200 credits, and document upload.
The product also offers monthly billing, team, and institution views, so confirm the selector and final checkout rather than quoting an annual effective rate as a cancellable month-to-month price. Paddle is identified as merchant of record on the pricing page.
“Unlimited presentations” does not mean every AI action is unlimited. Premium still lists an AI-credit allowance and a maximum input size. Estimate presentation creation, image generation, rewrite, remix, and translation from a representative project. Long source documents may require selection and restructuring before they fit an input limit.
Privacy and permission review
SlidesAI's public product and help documentation clearly explains surfaces, generation flows, and allowances, but the search-visible privacy and AI-training detail available for this review was less explicit than the technical workflow pages. That absence should be recorded rather than filled with an assumption.
For sensitive work, request or locate the current privacy policy, terms, subprocessor list, retention rules, model-provider terms, training policy, DPA, account-deletion process, and Workspace or Microsoft add-in permissions. Confirm which Gmail account owns the subscription and files. Use synthetic content during evaluation.
The same caution applies to the custom GPT: ChatGPT plan settings and OpenAI's applicable agreement affect that path separately. Choose the surface whose controls match the project rather than assuming all four environments handle data identically.
Who should choose SlidesAI?
SlidesAI is a practical shortlist for people who already live in Google Slides or PowerPoint and want an AI first draft without abandoning familiar editing. It is especially relevant for document conversion, education, multilingual content, and conventional editable-file delivery.
Choose Gamma for web-native presentation and document publishing. Choose Pitch for collaborative sales presentation delivery and analytics. Choose Decktopus when built-in delivery rehearsal matters. The AI presentation and website builders category includes a reusable export, privacy, and cost test.
