What is MeetGeek?
MeetGeek is a meeting recording and intelligence platform. Its meeting agent can join scheduled Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams calls from a connected Google or Outlook calendar. Users can instead capture through desktop, mobile, or a Chrome extension without a bot, record in-person conversations, or upload existing media. The system generates a recording, transcript, summary, highlights, action items, and a searchable meeting page.
The platform extends beyond notes. Templates shape summaries for different meeting types. AI chat searches one or many conversations. Meeting Skills can score a call, draft follow-up, flag risk, create tasks, update a CRM, or deliver a digest after detecting a meeting, phrase, pattern, or schedule. Voice agents can assist during or take calls. Public API, MCP, native integrations, Zapier, Make, and n8n widen the automation surface.
That breadth is useful only with controls. A transcript error can become a wrong CRM field; a mistaken action item can become a task; an unreliable sentiment label can influence a manager. Place human approval before external messages, employee evaluation, legal commitments, account changes, or destructive actions.
Pricing, recording, and retention
Basic is free and includes three recording hours per month, basic AI summaries, and core integrations. Pro is currently $15.99 per month on monthly billing or $9.99 per month billed annually and advertises unlimited recording, more than 30 summary templates, and meeting chat. Business is $27 monthly or $17 on annual billing and adds agents, workflows, broad integrations, team analytics, and sharing. Enterprise is custom with SSO, SCIM, custom DPA, customer success, SLA, VPC, residency, and governance options.
“Unlimited” should still be tested against fair-use, concurrency, processing, file, automation, and storage constraints. The current site says plan retention is one month for Basic, six months for Pro, and one year for Business; a downgrade subjects old meetings to the new plan's limits. Enterprise can negotiate zero or custom retention. Export important approved records before a plan change and delete unnecessary meetings early.
Consent and auto-join safety
The agent is visible as a participant, must be admitted by the host, and posts a recording notice in chat. MeetGeek can send advance notices and optional consent requests; when enabled, recording proceeds after explicit approval. The company recommends advance notice and a verbal reminder. This product behavior does not decide the lawful basis: recording rules differ by country, state, context, employment policy, contract, and data category.
Auto-join can cover every calendar event by default, including meetings the user does not host. Configure internal and external rules before connecting a real calendar. Exclude titles such as confidential or one-to-one, sensitive participants, domains, recurring events, and private calendars. Review upcoming meetings regularly and establish an immediate pause, withdrawal, deletion, and incident path.
Bot-free recording does not remove the consent duty. The Chrome, desktop, and mobile recorder can be less obvious to participants; MeetGeek's own guidance says the person recording becomes responsible for purpose, notice, access, duration, consent records, and withdrawal. Never equate “no bot” with permission to record invisibly.
Accuracy and operational review
Test representative accents, languages, names, product vocabulary, low-quality microphones, cross-talk, screen-shared audio, and hybrid rooms. Compare word accuracy and speaker attribution, but also measure decision and action accuracy. Preserve the original recording where policy permits, link summaries to timestamps, and let attendees correct consequential notes.
Sentiment, participation ratios, sales scores, recruiting signals, and coaching insights are probabilistic. They can reflect audio quality, culture, disability, speaking style, power dynamics, or model bias rather than performance. Do not use them alone for employment, eligibility, discipline, healthcare, legal, credit, or other high-impact decisions.
Privacy, sharing, and integrations
MeetGeek says customer meeting data never trains or fine-tunes models, recordings and transcripts are encrypted at rest and in transit, EU and US hosting are available, and the service has SOC 2 Type II. Eligible healthcare customers can seek a BAA. Enterprise options include organization locks, custom retention, on-premise storage, SSO and SCIM. Verify which statements are contractual for the exact account.
Sharing defaults need deliberate setup. Summary email can go to all participants, only team members, or only the user; meeting access can be configured separately. Start with the narrowest audience. A meeting may contain credentials, personal data, health details, legal advice, commercial plans, customer secrets, employee concerns, or information about people who never agreed to broad distribution.
Connected systems create new copies. CRM, Slack, project tools, Google Drive, API, MCP and automation platforms may receive transcripts, summaries, actions, highlights, analytics or structured fields. Apply least-privilege scopes, destination retention, error handling, revocation, audit logging, and data-loss controls. A deletion in MeetGeek may not delete downstream copies.
Verdict
MeetGeek is a capable choice when an organization wants flexible capture plus automated follow-through, not merely a transcript. Its free tier supports a realistic pilot, and mix-and-match seats can control team cost.
Adoption should be governed as a recording and automation system. Require consent, narrow auto-join and sharing, validate summaries against recordings, limit downstream actions, and enforce retention across every connected destination. Success is fewer missed decisions with clear accountability—not the largest archive of recorded conversations.
